I'll be starting college soon. What should I choose?

I have the choice between a university of applied sciences (Bielfeld) near my city, where I don't have to move, and RWTH Aachen. I've been offered a place at both universities and have accepted. Now, if I want to go to Aachen, I have to move completely, and this has to happen very soon. How should I go about this, and is a change after the first or second semester (Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences after RWTH) possible? Because the financial and stress costs are too much, and there's not enough time. What should I do?

A university and a university have a fundamentally different approach to studying. RWTH Aachen enjoys a very good reputation. To what extent a change between FH and university is actually possible can only tell you a study advisor of your field.

The question of what Bielefeld is supposed to be is saved.

is a change after 1 or 2nd semester (Bielefeld FH to RWTH),

Theoretically possible, practically often laborious. You need to have the courses taken individually.

Because you think that RWTH Aachen is particularly elite for any reason, it can be that the bill is laborious or even denied. Then you did at least part of your studies for free.

But if it's only about 1-2 semesters and you know pretty sure you're going to Aachen later, I'd start studying right there.

I would do it that I don't have to move. Moving is expensive and exhausting. Besides, the question is if you find an apartment fast enough. If you don't feel comfortable in your current environment, a move can of course make sense.

I don't know if I can. I don't know well enough. Can you afford your own apartment on site? Did your family decide when to move? If it's a year, you could put something like an FSJ (goes to 27). Of course, only if you want this and you want to live with your family in the immediate vicinity.

I would ask that, but theoretically it should be possible. I've just written about not knowing well enough because I'm not 100% sure.

I know one who was also at FH Bielefeld, she is now very successful in the profession.

Traffic links to Bielefeld are not bad either.

If it's the same study, I wouldn't go to Aachen.

Between Aachen and Bielefeld, the regional express is available, which can also be used with the semester ticket. So you could go home every weekend.

Many RTH students live in Belgium or NL. That's much cheaper. And there are also shared apartments

The direct connection of the RE no longer exists, but 1 times change in Cologne is no problem either.

The two courses cannot be the same if one is at FH and the other is at a university.
