Which laptop would you buy?

Dear community,

I'm a newbie photographer and videographer and am about to purchase my first work laptop. It's important that it's a powerful laptop that will allow me to easily process high-quality video footage and handle and render large files for years to come.

I have already narrowed my choices down to two laptops.

Apple MacBook Pro 14" 2023 M3 Pro

  • 36GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Apple M3 Pro processor
  • Costs approx. 2900€

Pros MacBook:

  • more RAM
  • I have an iPhone and an iPad which makes data transfer much easier through Airdrop

Acer Predator Helios Neo 16"

  • 32Gb Ram, 1TB SSD, Intel Core i9-14900HX
  • Costs approx. 1900€

Pros Acer:

  • better and faster processor
  • significantly cheaper

Hoping for opinions from people with more knowledge 🙂 Unfortunately, I can't say how noticeable a difference 4GB of RAM makes.

If you buy a laptop for image editing, it should cover the color spaces well, possibly OLED or good IPS monitors (for laptops but rarely)

As CPU Apple M or Ryzen 8000 series or newer

If you want to make a meaningful investment in the future and also in view of nature, look at the Framework 13 inch with the ryzen CPU. You can make a win 11 or any linux on it. The mainboard is thought to be upgraded from work. Look at the company, that's the best you can do as a laptop

If that's what I'd decide for the Acer. In case of repair easier, thanks to the software more compatibility and functions.

But Acer doesn't find the best quality. Look at similar models from Asus or Lenovo.

With such a job I would have both, PC and laptop.

With my Lenovo ThinkPad I also cut videos, but everything without bluescreen and other fines. And I only work with Ubuntu. Windows is too lame for it. Camera is a simple GoPro11.

I. Generally I prefer Lenovo.

I wouldn't do that on a MacBook Pro. The 36 GB RAM is well sized, rather a larger SSD. I don't even start under 2 TB.

I would recommend the asus studiobook.

I think that's just the right thing for you.
