Changing universities from Austria to Germany?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently studying physics in Vienna (I started here), at the end of my first semester, but I have a German Abitur (high school diploma). I've realized that I don't like the university and life here, so I'm considering transferring back to Aachen, Germany. Does anyone here have experience with transferring universities within the same program? Can I get credit for exams and just continue studying there, or does it depend entirely on the university? I can't reach anyone at the university; perhaps you have experience.

Thanks in advance.

Hey, Jonathan.

happy to hear you want to come to the RWTH 😀

I honestly don’t buy you that you don’t reach anyone 😛 Department of Physics I’m sure you should answer.

In principle, however, this should work with the calculation somehow, although not to the full extent. But you should be careful when you can start studying. If, for example, only one start to the WS is possible, but you want to start the SS and do not have enough CP for a classification into a higher semester, it becomes difficult.

Through the European harmonisation of the study lines and the associated introduction of the eCTS point system, student lines can in principle be transferred between universities.

You will most likely be able to charge you services. This is always at the discretion of the university, which they consider to be equivalent.

For example, if the University of Achen, for some reason, thinks that mathematics, which is taught at the University of Vienna, is far different from its requirements or content, you may have to do the subject again because the performance is not recognized.

But you really need to clarify this for each module individually with the university.
