How to wrap cakes properly with wrapping paper?

Hello,

I'm working at a bakery recently, and I'm having a really hard time wrapping cakes. My colleagues do it really quickly, and they hold it so well that they even do it without tape. If I try to fold it the way they do, the paper comes off, and it just isn't good enough. Often, I can't estimate how much paper I need. Sometimes I use too much, sometimes way too little.

I can't practice at work because I don't have the time, so if a customer wants me to wrap a cake, a colleague does it for me. But that doesn't help me because I'll have to be able to do it myself at some point.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can improve this? Maybe a guide or something? That would be great.

Let a colleague show you. Come 20 minutes before your start of work and ask beforehand.

You take a big sheet of paper, put the cardboard tray with the cake right in the middle and roll the 2 ends together up couple times.

Let it show you in the break or a quiet moment step by step and practice at home with a thin book that you keep wrapping up until it sits 🙂

Take a stack of newspaper paper/werbebroschüren, different “tablets”, pack them with something and then practice it at home.

That’s like everything else in the craftsmanship, just a practice thing.

I mean, you let this show you exactly in a quiet phase by colleagues, take paper and cardboard with you and then try this at home often enough…….sometimes it takes until you have it……..
