What other mnemonics are there to help you identify the correct meter in a poem?
So, I have a question. I need to find the right meter for a poem. Is there any mnemonic device? I've heard from many people that I should read it out loud and then I'll be able to do it. That's exactly what I do, but somehow I don't really have a feel for it….
You need the context. If there are no solid reimes etc, a poem works differently than if it has. Solid reimes give a poem harmony, regularity and you can easily preview what comes next. It follows a rhythm.
Without solid patterns, it is confusing and stocking, always new and unpredictable. You don’t know what’s next. It’s confused. So the author probably perceives the situation.
