What kind of clothing material is this?

Hey,

I wanted to dye my jacket (I sewed it myself), but unfortunately I don't know what kind of fabric it's made of or whether it will even take dye. I just don't want to risk it getting damaged during the dyeing process. I did a water test and the jacket absorbs the water pretty well and has actually turned black in that spot. I hope you can help me.

Greetings 🙂

Looks like “Samtvelour” stuff. I would dye on a case,

otherwise the jacket is scrap!

Basically, not much can happen.

The coloring agents which can be bought are practically only suitable for cotton (viscose should also be dyed). Polyester would simply ignore the dye.

you have to see if there is something in the wash label to the material composition.

If you don’t know if the natural or synthetic fibers are, you can’t give advice. As soon as man-made fibres are present, dyeing will not be carried out.
