How big is the red deer population?
There are occasional television reports that there are more red deer in Germany than the forests can support (the first was probably Horst Stern's). Perhaps this will change due to the migrating wolves (in Yellowstone Park, USA, reintroduced wolves have given the almost completely vanished forest a chance to regenerate).
One claim is that hunters prefer to have a lot of red deer to hunt – the more animals, the more can be shot.
- Has this changed, or are there differences in the views of younger and older hunters?
- How much freedom do hunting leaseholders have regarding the number of red deer in their hunting area (or the quota for hunting)?
- And of course any other comments you think are appropriate 😉
PS: I haven't read through over 100 questions to see if something like this has been asked before, so maybe a link to another answer here (or several) will suffice.
Here you can find the hunting statistics:

The stock is rising. We don’t have a wild game, so I can’t even tell you more about numbers…
There are fire plans (depending on the federal state), so the hunters are even obliged to meet the quotas issued by the hunting authority.
And can they shoot more if that’s the forest? Or does the lower authority also provide ceilings?
This is, of course, a view. It must always be observed from whom this view comes and why he has it.
I can’t confirm it or refute it. I don’t have a wild game at the station where I’m hunting.
That’s nonsense.
Don’t fit together, do you notice yourself? Why would a hunter want more deer if there’s more than he can handle?
My impression:
They also like to look for a “schooly” about which they can complain. And that is in the doubt of the hunters. 🤷
I doubt that these are the same people.
