Do companies hire software developers or web developers (full stack or backend or frontend) without a university degree in computer science?

Hello, I've been learning Java programming for some time now. I've also done some programming with Python and have had a brief introduction to web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

I would like to go into computer science as a career changer, but I wonder if it is possible without studying computer science and without training as an IT specialist?

There are now so many boot camp offerings, and here too, many questions about: "How do I make the transition into IT?" and the like.

It is often said on YouTube: "The HR departments write "with university degree" in the job advertisement, but you can still apply if you can show that you can program, etc. "

Is that really true? What is correct?

If someone really puts in the effort and programs projects and perhaps creates websites to show off – then you have to reckon with:

"We won't hire you. You can program, but without a degree, you have no chance."

Oh, the conclusion is unimportant… BUT: You must also be able!!!!!

You get a task and have to be able to implement it – independently and timely!

References are of course an advantage in the application! Otherwise you may get an application task. I had that.

I was given a week to create a smartphone app with JAVA. It was a kind of jump & run game. I was pretty easy and finished after two days!

So: cross entry works – but you must also be able to!

PS: The worst thing about the smartphone app was that I had to document the whole thing. Both in the source text and as a form of a "handbook". My pdf file had 40 pages as documentation. And that is necessary because you have to inform the customer accordingly about the services and other developers have to understand the source text… so there is also something that belongs to it!

A lot of practical knowledge and experience are required in web development. This has little to do with classical computer science. Companies with whom I had to do so have trained professional informatics: both inside and outside: how I treated equally.

I have a software company. And I don't care. Your salary is of course a matter of negotiation according to your skill. And we don't like care cases.

There is no "right" or "false".

Behave yourself and when you are taken is good. Otherwise, nothing has happened.

Bear in mind: they do not take beginners who need to train, but only people who are really good and experienced. Is that you?

Be careful in your applications for clean production. Better make shorter completed sentences and do not add long word collections like here….and here and there a comma.

Why don't you just call it, aren't you going to pretend?

I don't think so. The company ultimately decides whether you fit into the team or not.

Good luck!
