What is the rescue plan if a skyscraper burns?
Hello,
How do you evacuate a burning skyscraper?
There are certainly no rescue ladders of the fire brigade that high
And I've never seen stairs on such tall buildings.
But you can't eliminate the fire risk 100%.
So what do you do when a skyscraper is on fire?
For this purpose, concrete fire protection plans are created that contain rescue and escape routes. Depending on the situation, evacuation plans and deployment plans for the fire brigade are also set up.
There are also various extinguishing systems. And, of course, stairwells and elevators equipped for fires. They are made, for example, of refractory material according to certain qualities, have smoke systems, fire protection doors which close particularly tightly and so on.
In modern high-rise buildings there are many fire protection measures such as fire protection doors to the staircase and partly also in corridors for division. Sometimes also smoke exhaust systems.
This should slow the spread of the fire and, above all, the spread of high-risk smoke.
Evacuation runs over the stairs, there is no way to go, everything else is at risk. Since electrics can fail or even the mechanics of the elevator can be damaged when people are stuck in the elevator, this may only be noticed later and it makes use of the fire department more difficult.
For the fire brigade for extinguishing there are sometimes extra elevator lines, that are special lines that are either provided with water and water pressure or can be filled by the fire brigade with connection possibilities on the floors, so the fire brigade does not have to put hoses up and possibly not build up so much water pressure so that the water comes up with enough pressure.
On September 11, 2001 in New York we could see how great this works. The third one was already human before the fire.
It has nothing to do with it, otherwise living / working in such houses should be prohibited. At least from floor X.
With fire protection doors and climbing lines you cannot evacuate buildings, the helpless advice does not work.
The requirements for high-rise buildings are in Germany High-rise Directive n.
It is a whole complex of measures to enable people to be saved, but also effective fire control.
Use stairwell.
As a rule, no lightly combustible materials are installed in the stairwell, so the stairway serves as an escape path. Therefore, landlords and tenants should keep the stairwells free from combustible objects and free from obstacles.
The plan is EVACUATE
There are escape and rescue routes for this. They're protected from fire and smoke. (smooth is worse than fire)
In the escape and rescue routes, you get all the trouble. They should be safe at least for 90 minutes.
Structured and left the building over the stairs without panic.
So don't use elevators and don't use the phone to film without any use.
Provides (hopefully) escape and rescue routes, ascending lines, possibly also fire-extinguishing chambers and smoke removal.
