Help?! What's wrong with my helix?

Today is Tuesday, December 3, 2024, and I had my helix and daith pierced last Thursday afternoon, November 28, 2024. (Right ear; both ears are attached for contrast to show how bad it looks.) My helix hurts unbearably, is inflamed, and extremely swollen, despite taking antibiotics for two days. My family doctor told me yesterday, December 2, 2024, that it seems severely inflamed and prescribed me antibiotics (cefuroxime). I've been taking them since yesterday. I clean all my piercings with a saline solution because they're all still fresh. Two days ago, on Sunday, December 1, 2024, I asked my piercer, and he said it looked "good" and normal, and that inflammation of this degree is common in helix piercings. My concern is that it's almost Wednesday, and the week is almost over, and despite taking my antibiotics, it's still severely inflamed and is incredibly painful and throbbing. Should I just take it out? Should I go to the emergency room? I don't know what to do with this pain.

Can you please help me?

If your 'Piercer' thinks it's good and normal, maybe he should do another job better…

You urgently need a serious piercer, one who also knows what he does! The too short plug must be replaced very urgently – still today! – I would definitely not take it out in the Constitution.

In any case, take the pills – or yet again ask the doctor why he has not prescribed the usual, ie amoxicillin-cavulanic acid, and make him aware that the prescribed agent appears not to be so correct.

In addition, I would lubricate the ear thick with betaisodonas ointment and then make a bandage over it so that the ointment can also act properly.

Greetings from Andrea from Dortmund (piercer & body modder since 1989)

Your plug is too tight and needs to be exchanged for a longer one! Please go to your piercer immediately, so the swelling cannot calm down, as there is no space left!

Do not use prontolind or Octenisept as both cartilage toxic! Salt solution is right for cartilage piercings!

I would also get Betaisodona (cream) against inflammation and apply it…

My helix had been so swollen a few days after stealing and has "poiled" (maybe at night somehow have come against it?), but this has been calmed by itself through normal further care with sodium chloride solution, slightly cool and a little betaisodona then within a few days 🙂

Please find another piercer as soon as possible and let the much too short plug exchange for a longer one there is no space left for the swelling.

Against inflammation, I would use Betaisodona tincture 3x daily, then it would have to be better in a short time.

I've been getting myself a couple of years ago, and that's also inflamed at the beginning, actually you should clean it with octinisept that disinfects! Salt water is not enough!
I'm sure it'll be fine again! Please don't take it out yourself! Go to the piercer because if you don't make it hygienic it will be worse!
I would actually clean it 3x daily

Helix healing is a longer matter I can say from experience!

Last week Thursday is not that long ago

yes then it wasn't octinisept 🥲 got that even after read, so get an extra piercing disinfectant with what helped!
Because of that I would cool it with ice! Antibiotic I did not take because I just continued to disinfect it and then just left it. I don't know what else you can do.

It is certain that it can harm the cartilage because it is cartilage toxic, so you should not recommend it or use it on the cartilage.

Just because you walked across the highway without it immediately coming to the accident, there is no reason to recommend such a mischief.

Prontolind is, just like Octenisept, not suitable for cartilage as cartilage toxic – it should not therefore be recommended or applied for cartilage piercings
