Where can I find a center console for VW Caddy 1?
Hello folks,
I'm currently restoring a Volkswagen Caddy Mk.1 and need the cover or the center console, whatever, for the gear knob or rather the gear gaiter. I currently have a bare gear knob with a loosely hanging gear gaiter.
I work at VW myself, but I can't even get parts there. It's maddening. I can't find anything anywhere. Does anyone have a secret mega tip for me?

The Caddy fits the Golf 1 consoles, which are still widely used.
Just search for "Golf 1 center console" on eBay classifieds or eBay.
But be careful! As always, VW offers several different versions. (2 instrument panel openings = standard speedometer, 3 openings = GL dashboard or plastic dashboard)
The picture shows a console from my 1983 Golf Mk1 GX automatic with a Fischer cassette box. It only fits with the lower storage compartments on the GL dashboard.

Sure, I do. Scrapyards tend to have a larger selection, so try them.
Drawing and 3D printing?
I've already thought about it… I'm just not confident in drawing it accurately enough. I'm afraid something might go wrong. But it would be the last option.
