Internal SSD is only partially recognized?
So, I bought a 500GB 970 EVO PLUS NVME M.2 SSD, but after installing it, I noticed that it wasn't recognized in the BIOS under the SATAG6_ ports, nor in Windows under the This PC tab. However, it is displayed in the Windows Device Manager and in the boot menu.
I looked for driver updates in the Windows Device Manager, but they seem to be up to date.
When I go to the "Onboard Device configuration" tab in the BIOS, I can only choose between M.2 and SATA_Express. SATA_Express is always selected by default and when I want to change it, it does not take over even after saving and rebooting.
Currently I have a 2TB TOSHIBA HDD installed on which my windows is located
As motherboard I use an ASUS Z170-A
PS: And yes I know my PC is dusty 😀
I also have a Samsung 970 Evo Pro on my board (Asus WS C246 Pro) and everything works great. I don’t know what it’s about you, because causes are many conceivable, but if at least some of them are detected, my first point of contact would be the disk outage in Windows. If they were not recognized, this could be due to various problems, starting with the initialization of the SSD.
If a data carrier has to be initialized, it is noted in the data carrier administration in the completely left column of the graphic representation below “data carrier .” with “not initialized”.
Indeed. I already did. This would be difficult if it were the boot running gear. Then you have to initialize the SSD before you can install the system on it, if I’m quite out of mind.
That’s true.
A system would have to be on the PC already, because the questioner indicates that the SSD is displayed in the device manager.
A look into the data carrier management could help.
Hey,
Does your motherboard have 2 M.2 slots? If yes, take the one under the CPU.
if not in the disk management and in and looking.
Or if all drivers are updated via Driver Booster or your BIOS?
So I don’t have a second M.2 slot and my drivers are up to date
Have you ever looked at the media administration?
