ESP and workshop light?

Hello to all mechanics,

This morning I had the problem for the first time that I really accelerated when getting onto the motorway.

Then the ESP and workshop lights came on and the accelerator was no longer accepted.

The engine then went into emergency operation at approximately 1500 rpm.

Only after turning off the engine and restarting did the indicator lights go out again.

If I accelerate moderately, I can drive and everything stays put.

Only when I really step on the gas does this happen.

Reading is not possible yet because I am currently at work.

Maybe someone has an idea and can tell me in which direction this could/will go.

Thank you all for your time.

The ESP actually speaks for a defective wheel sensor. Then the speed signals can no longer be tapped and the error occurs. In rare cases, it can also be related to a problem in the transmission. that could also explain the workshop control and emergency operation.

In another case, the emergency program can also be caused by a defective setting mechanism on the VTG turbo. However, this would not explain the ESP control or only slightly explain it. A defective VTG turbo is quickly detected. the emergency program starts on average from about 3000rpm.

So the simplest case: a defective wheel sensor

medium case: defective VTG turbo Here it does not need a new turbo! Disassemble, carbon black and coal, he'll go back!

heavy case: faults on the gear….

The common diagnostic systems distinguish between the fault types. eg between sporadic and permanent errors. "Small qualities" and those who can endanger the engine. So theoretically, there would have been a mistake somewhere. at least one sporadic error.

Finding the cause is not so easy. It forces me as a counter-question: what was last done on the car? Brakes renewed or maybe wheel bearings…?

OK. I'm still tapping on defective wheel sensors. One or more. A bucking grate that fell away again can cause something like that. Also a rusted pulse generator on the wheel hub or drive shaft. Cables eat from Marder to bad contacts.

Read out mistakes and pay attention to sporadic mistakes. If all knits tear, stop the motor when the fault occurs and read directly into the workshop for error.

For some manufacturers, sporadic errors are deleted again if they have not occurred after 5 or 10 start operations.

Drive to the workshop and make mistakes read out. You can't say anything about it before.

Remote diagnosis is not possible. Workshop or breakdown service will help you.
