How can you get upset about dirty tradesmen?

Question

We're having a friend install a new heater. He always comes to our house right after work. Still, my husband and mother-in-law say it's impossible for him to come to us as dirty as he is. He could at least clean himself up at home.

I'm starting to think my mother-in-law's strange views are just a reflection of my husband. Before they say something like that, they should think about why it's even worth cleaning up before work if they're just going to get dirty again anyway.
