Oil temperature gauge not working?
Hey, I have a problem with my '99 Honda Civic: my oil temperature gauge doesn't show any temperature as soon as I turn the heater on. However, if I switch to cold air, the gauge rises to operating temperature almost immediately.
What could be the reason for this and is it bad?
This is not the oil temperature, but the temperature of the cooling circuit. Let's check your cooling circuit thermostat.
So even if the problem is just when I turn my ventilation warm? Because as soon as it's cold, my car seems to be quite normal warm and as soon as I turn back to warm the temperature goes down again.
Yes, just because then the large water circuit is required. The thermostat regulates two water circuits, once the small one, to keep the engine at temperature, and then the large one, if the heating is also switched on. Probably, your thermostat is stuck in the small cycle, so that it does not exist at all or only partially free.
So does this have to be thermostat and not necessarily the cool temperature sensor?
First I doubt you have an oil temperature indicator!? Oil pressure indicator would shine to me! And what would they do with your heater for the second?
