Rattling in the wheel suspension?

Good Morning,

When I drive my car over a bump with the front right wheel, it sounds like a bang. (Not a problem on bumpy roads, but only with manhole covers or potholes, for example.)

The car keeps its lane straight and I don't notice any restrictions in its handling.

I know that a remote diagnosis is difficult, but maybe someone has had a similar problem

Car: 20-year-old Mercedes c180 w203

Wishbone was replaced a year ago if that's relevant =).

Thanks

Then the spring is broken!? Please take a train transfer and report again…

These are the typical signs for a broken suspension spring:

  • Breaking noise (you can overhear it, however).
  • Sponge steering behavior.
  • Stroking or flapping noises at the affected Spring leg .
  • The vehicle is sloping even though the ground is flat.
  • Poor suspension on uneven ground

This can be a lot from coupling rods to axle bearings

If the featherbone should break but have put so much that the car is shredded all around…if, then breaks spring…can also be knocked out dome bearing

It's hard to break

That's not the opposite. But you mean they're breaking hard. It's not that…

I said it was a rare thing?

broken suspension springs are not rare! All brands and guys have the problems. Mostly the first winding breaks up or down in the plate. And if it's just this first turn, the driver doesn't realize much. Recently, I had a Skoda Roomster where the spring was broken down and which slowly turned over the lower spring plate over the feather leg.

That's completely different.

I had one Spring break and the result was the "folding" over web crossings, gulli lids and percussion holes…

Never heard. Rather they bend down. Feathers break more.

Ask your workshop, somehow it sounds strange.

Most likely, as a layman, I would expect a problem of shock absorbers, but then would expect unusual noises or driving behavior even in permanent impacts due to wavy road surfaces.

A broken wheel bearing makes strange noises more depending on the speed of rotation than on impacts.

In the case of spring bone breakage, an insurmountable "coating" is the result of web transitions, gulli lids or percussion holes…

Spring broken or dome bearing beaten!
