Beach walk or paths along the cliffs near Warnemünde?
I am interested in 2 excursions:
- Hike from the Nienhagen Ghost Forest to Warnemünde.
- Hike from Heiligendamm to Kühlungsborn.
Either along the beach or on the path above the cliffs.
Or alternating between the beach and above the cliffs.
OpenStreetMap lists viewpoints along the path along the cliffs – in the sections with viewpoints I would walk along the top of the path along the cliffs, in sections without viewpoints I would walk along the beach.
Now the question:
How accessible is the beach – is it safe to walk on it?
There seem to be sections of sand on the beach, but also sections with rocky ground – how accessible is the beach there?
On the path above the cliffs, the question is how critical is surefootedness/headlessness (uneven path surface, inclines/declines, precipices along the path)?
What is the condition of the stairs between the beach and the path above the cliffs? Are there railings?
There you can go very well as a pensioner. The paths are extended and safe. Stairs have a staircase. That's what happened in the GDR.
On these topics there is a wonderful app: outdooractive
You will find the way you like everywhere.
You can also assume that dangerous places are secured in Germany. So whoever moves in the official ways does not have to be afraid.
A decent footwear and physical health is of course required.
I have already planned the route with RouteConverter using OpenStreetMap, then I will load the track to my Garmin watch.
Now I'm interested in the state of the ways to safety.
Is that clear in the app?
Just look inside. Don't eat anything.
"Wandering from Heiligendamm to Kühlungsborn." You can go all the way to the beach. As far as I remember.
"Wandering from the Gespensterwald Nienhagen to Warnemünde." You have to change.
