E36 316i to 328i conversion?

Hello!

Since I'm planning on replacing my 316i with a 328i engine soon, and I'm not entirely sure what I need to replace, I'm asking you. Everything should be registered. I'm not sure which parts I can keep and which I absolutely have to replace. If I have to replace something, do I have to use the original 328i parts, or will 325i or 323i parts work?

Thanks in advance

Look at the explosion drawings and the parts numbers of the two variants, then you can see exactly where the differences are.

Look here:

https://www.ilcats.ru/bmw/?function=getModels&market=ECE&catalog=VT&language=de

After selecting the vehicle, you can view and compare the individual modules.

There are also parts catalogs from BMW, but I don't know about the terms for private users.

Have fun with it, and a lot of success.

Okay, look here.

You can also request technical details and documents from BMW Clubs. What may also help are repair instructions, even because of the torques of the screws.

Do you think this is a good idea? On the one hand, you make the feeling that you honestly have no idea of doings and bladders, which is also okay, but rather talks about such a Mammut project itself… On the other hand, it is likely to be more worthwhile to find a correspondingly motorized user than to rebuild your old car…

I think that's a very useful answer from my side, because I'm afraid that you're just going to do your presumably still functioning mobile subset… But do what you can't leave. You could ask in a corresponding club of the model if there is not someone who can share experiences with you.

In addition to the engine, you need the corresponding gear, the cable harness, the AGA…

Then even stronger brakes and probably other tires.

In addition, a single take-off…

I would strengthen/improve everything directly.

Condition that a 316i was never designed for the performance of a 328i

Better to take a 328i directly.

This is such an own construction from a 316i to 328i expensive, should be clear to everyone.

This is what you do if you like to screw up and build your own, there is one of the price no matter 🤷 ♂️
