Buy old film for camera?
Hello!
I found my father's old camera, and it seems to still be in perfect working order. I'd like to try taking some photos with it, but with old film! Does anyone know where I can get old film from the 1930s or 1940s? Or what they're called exactly?
Greetings
Are you sure the camera is so old? I assume your father didn’t photograph as a baby, but only at 20-30 or even later. He would have been 90-100 years old in 2000. I’d rather assume that the camera is from the ’60s or ’70s if he didn’t inherit it from your grandpa.
And now you mean film that is as old as the camera, or film that fits into these cameras. If this is a 35mm camera, the 35mm film you can buy online or even in the DM fits.

Which film you need depends on the camera. But you can buy both 35mm film and medium format film easily. I doubt you’ll get that old stuff somewhere. And even if – and the camera really works perfectly – the result will probably disappoint. Film is not always durable.
Hello
simply drag the camera to the next real photo dealer, he should make a short overview, because selling matching film and showing you how to load it.
In the 30s there were 1 dozen main formats and also glass plate cameras. Today there are only 135s, 120s and sheet film to buy.
40’s cameras are “powerless” so without exposure measurement, which is done by smartphone or Sunny Rule.
Look at Instagram @expired_film_club. There are photographs that were made with film from the 90s, 80s even partially 70s. There are already extreme deficiencies, with only 30 years old film. Accordingly, a film from the 30s/40s will probably not degenerate and will also be overly expensive.
Better buy a new one, the camera is old enough;)
Go with the camera to the dealer of your trust and describe your desire.
