Cracks on the penis after masturbation?

Every time I masturbate and "clean" myself, I have the problem that my skin just below the glans develops red cracks and burns intensely. I have the same problem a little above the transition from penis to bladder. Also, my glans is often very dry, and it looks as if it's contracting and shriveling up. I don't have a foreskin. I've hardly masturbated since these cracks appeared, and when I do, it burns so much that I have to stop. Should I go straight to the doctor and get it checked out? That would be very uncomfortable, but if it's the best option, I'll do it.

It sounds like a fungal infection.
Care for good hygiene, regular and sufficient with mild soap, then well dry.
