Tax ID on your ID card or passport?

I need my tax ID for a holiday job but my parents can't find it anymore. They've already called and I'll get it by post within 4 weeks. As I have to apply soon, I can't wait that long. I once read that the tax ID is on the passport. Is that right or is it somewhere else?

The tax ID is not on the passport.

If your parents can’t find them anymore, you also have other ways:

  • Tax debit or letter from the tax office (only if you have received this)
  • At the bank (if it was deposited there)
  • Pay tax certificate (even if you have one)
  • BZSt survey (https://www.bzst.de/SiteGlobals/Contact forms)
  • Financial Office (e.g. you can print and send the electronic payroll features – there it is also noted. However, consider that this grds. is not responsible for the notification of the tax ID and it always depends on the specialist).

It is not on the passport or ID card. Try where is proposing.

Ask the Ombudsman once – they can easily retrieve them.

You will receive your tax ID at the relevant tax office if you can prove yourself. It takes 5 minutes.
