Severe pain at night 2 weeks after surgery?

Hello there

Two weeks ago, I had specific arthritis in my ankle for the second time in two months. Within a day, the entire joint was filled with pus. I was in severe pain, five times worse than the kidney stone I once had for three months.

After the emergency operation, during which the artificial ligaments were removed because this was already the second infection and blood poisoning in two months, I stayed in the hospital for one and a half weeks.

I've been home for six days now, but I can barely sleep because of the severe pain I experience at night. It always starts between 2 and 4 am and stops after one or two hours. My foot is still very swollen around the closed wound, and I can barely move. I'm taking the full daily dose of Novalgin and Ibuprofen. Despite the pain, I'm avoiding tramadol because I've been taking opiates for a long time and I'm at a higher risk of becoming addicted due to BPD.

Blood values are good, leukocytes are slightly elevated (not a cause for concern according to the family doctor) and the wound looks good.

I read that you have more pain at night than usual, but the pain has been getting worse and worse for the past week.

Is this part of wound healing after infection?

This is my 6th surgery, but the first with such an infection and I have never had a problem with pain or swelling lasting more than a week.

Maybe I'm a little paranoid that it could be something serious again. I'm a little traumatized by all those trips to the emergency room and how they treated me (or didn't). So I'm afraid of having to deal with it again.

In the prehistory it is normal and even sensitive to be somewhat paranoid.

If necessary, the doctor will certainly see it. I'd rather let you look too much.

You must at least check if you could be right.
