Can you take an e-cigarette on a plane?

I'm flying on vacation with my family in four days (from Germany to Israel). I smoke an e-cigarette and would, of course, like to take it with me on vacation. My only concern is that the liquid containers might look "dangerous" and be discarded. I'm obviously not taking everything with me as hand luggage, but am packing both the e-cigarette and the liquid in my suitcase.

You can pack the liquid in the suitcase. I'd put the e-cigarette in my hand luggage. Maybe that's why they pull your suitcase out when it's in the right suitcase.

Li-ion batteries basically belong to the hand luggage because of the risk of fire.

The liquid belongs to the suitcase, the steam into the jacket pocket.

Replacement batteries and a small amount of liquid can easily be carried along in the hand luggage.
