6Q0B44E without end?

6Q0B44E , sometimes abbreviated as B44E , is a small object, likely space debris , orbiting Earth outside the orbit of the Moon since November 2018

The object was observed 56 times in the seven months following its discovery, but was lost in March 2007. [3] The observations were sufficient to calculate orbital data forward and back to 2004 (see animated graphic). Another unknown Earth satellite, XL8D89E, was discovered in June 2016 in a similar—but not identical—orbit. [4] According to scientific findings published in November 2018 and further in 2019, it is likely, though unproven, that 6Q0B44E and XL8D89E are the same object, with the orbit shifting in the intervening decade due to non-gravitational accelerations (e.g., slow gas escape). The object has a diameter of only a few meters and has been classified as “probably artificial.”

So is the object a UFO (unidentified flying object)?

6Q0B44E (and XL8D89E) orbits the Earth every 80 days at a distance of between 585,000 and 983,000 kilometers, which is two to three times the distance of the Moon's orbit. [6]

Its density has been estimated at about 15 kg/m³, which is too low for natural rock, but similar to an empty fuel tank. [7]

Ephemerides calculated from the observations suggest that 6Q0B44E likely entered the Earth-Moon system between 2001 and 2003, possibly up to a decade earlier. Similarities between the discoveries of 6Q0B44E and J002E3 , believed to be part of the Apollo 12 rocket , led some astronomers to speculate that 6Q0B44E could be another relic of human space exploration that has returned to Earth's orbit. However, no space mission has yet been identified as the source of 6Q0B44E (as of June 2024). [8]

Nowadays there are very good, powerful lasers.
These should be stationed in orbit similar to navigation satellites.
They are powered by solar cells, for example.
These laser stations now have the task of melting the space debris.

These could be parts of the Apollo 13 propulsion module, which, after the oxygen tank exploded, came to the moon as debris along with Apollo 13, but were unable to return to Earth by firing the lander engine and have been orbiting the moon ever since.

Other lunar missions haven't left any debris in lunar orbit. We're just littering our own near-Earth space with space debris that can't escape.
