6+3 – Only gestational sac + yolk sac – no embryo, can that be?
Hello, my dears,
Unfortunately, I'm pretty inexperienced and wanted to ask you if you have any experience or if you could maybe reassure me a bit?
I went to the gynecologist today and unfortunately they only saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac.
The doctor measured the gestational sac and said that according to the size I would be 7 + 4
I determined my ovulation using an ovulation test and that was on December 24th, my last period was on December 9th.
So I should be right with my 6+3.
He made me totally insecure because he had already informed me about a D&C.
I have another ultrasound appointment in a week.
Unfortunately, I didn't get an ultrasound picture either
Many thanks in advance
Doctors are still very often counting on a 28-day cycle and even if you can tell them exactly how long your own cycle is and when you had a positive ovulation test and unprotected sex, they remain with their bill.
You know your body and cycle best, so you can best calculate the ET with your data and share it with your midwife, these are not such a rigid view.
In ultrasound, of course, it is always looked at how far the baby is developed, but the data the doctor already knew before and a pixel can make a big difference in the calculation of size, just at the beginning. The birth weight or the size does not deviate significantly from the values in the ultrasound for free, is often indicated at +/-400g at the end (this is a span of almost one kilogram).
The heartbeat can be seen from the 6th ssw, but it can also take longer. During my first pregnancy, it was only in the 8th ssw that time and in the 6th ssw I was totally worried because you haven’t seen anything yet. But my then female doctor was so that he told me that it was normal and can take longer. Unfortunately, there are also more than enough, which then directly throw the demolition into the room and totally fail at emotional level, for them it is nothing special and belongs to it.
