5th gear on the 2.0 TDI sometimes doesn't go in?
The ŠKODA Superb 2.0 TDI 140PS . 6 speed
145,000km. Replacement transmission 2,000km ago.
On this car, sometimes, approximately every 400km, fifth gear won't engage when shifting up. Otherwise, all gears work, and fifth gear engages perfectly without any symptoms.
I can't reproduce it, it comes without a pattern, most likely when the engine is really warm, e.g. after driving uphill
Is this still within the tolerance or is there definitely something wrong if the gear blocks so rarely? What would be the most obvious thing?
Schaltgestänge neu Einstellen lassen und langsamm mit Gefühl schalten.
The ŠKODA dealer has tried adjusting it three times already… the first problem was that the fourth gear wouldn't go in at all, but rather the second one always went in instead of the fourth. They tried to adjust a lot of things, then they put in a new, repaired gearbox, and everything fits except for the fifth gear. Perhaps too much was adjusted when the old gearbox was still in there…
Can I do something like this myself? It's located under the fan housing at the front?
The problem was first in 4th gear, and now in 5th. It's not the transmission. It's purely a matter of adjustment. Find another workshop where the mechanics have more patience and sensitivity. I'm familiar with these kinds of problems from my Lancias.
Ok, then I'll go and look for it, thank you very much
I come from Franconia.
Authorized workshops work strictly according to a schedule and, if necessary, simply replace parts. There are also smaller workshops that care about customer satisfaction. Usually, more so than authorized workshops or other repair chains. Ask around. Adjusting the transmission and gearshift without a fixed adjustment gauge is something almost only older people (50+) can do.
Do you happen to know a competent workshop in Hesse?
