3 fans with one adapter on one fan header?
I bought three fans for my PC, but now I only have one fan header on my motherboard, and I'm wondering if I can connect them safely with an adapter. The fans are 120mm from Uphere, and the motherboard is an Asus Prime H610M-K D4.
Your board has two 4pin PWM connectors. One is located on the left at the top of the Rambänke, the other right of the IO-Blende. In this case, the first is provided for the fan the processor cooler and the second is provided for housing fans.
You can also connect 3 fans with a 3x 4pin PWM Y splitter via one of these ports. However, these always run at the same speed. Also, you shouldn’t chain several of these spiders one behind the other, as only limited power consumption is granted to an attachment and with too many fans it may not get enough power.
The fan connectors on mainboards usually have a specification of 1 or 2 amperes. How much it is with your motherboard can you see the manual or data sheet. The power consumption of the fans together must not exceed the maximum power output of the fan connection.
3 fans go easy. Only from 4 -6 fans you have to calculate if the connection supplies enough power.
