2. Bang at the sound barrier?

Hello first of all.
So in physics class, we’re talking about the Doppler effect and the sound barrier.
Now I have a few questions.
1. Does the pilot hear the bang when the sound barrier is broken? I mean, he is flying faster than the sound.
2. If the airplane slows down again, there is another point at which the sound barrier is broken, only this time “from above”. Is there a bang again? If so, who hears it?
Thanks in advance 🙂

there is not a bang when breaking through the sound wall, but as long as the aircraft moves faster than the snall, it pulls conically diie pressure wave behind it, which is perceived at the bottom as a bang. see here http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%9Cberschallflug#.C3.9Cber sound bang

As you know correctly, you don’t hear an oversonic bang in the plane yourself. He’s pulling like a tow behind the plane. When the aircraft comes back to the speed of sound, this tow simply stops
