1000 bar?

Hello, I'm flying from Frankfurt to Chania in August, and I wanted to ask if, as a 16-year-old, I'll be stopped for walking through the security checks with €1,200 in cash, and if I'll be asked where the money came from, and should I put the money in my hand luggage or my suitcase? Regards.

No problem. Only from 10,000 euros you have to register the money on queries. No one is interested in smaller amounts (except you have other similar means of payment and are generally worth at least 10,000 euros, e.g. cheques, shares, gold coins, gold bars, savings books, etc.).

It can happen that you have to show the money. Why would that be bad?

As I said, can happen.

Cash always belongs “to the man” and €1,200 are not so much money for a trip abroad, so no one will ask – they are more likely to ask if you have a parental power to travel abroad.
