Is 10th or 11th grade high school more important?
Hello 🙂
I'd like to spend a year abroad in America (probably the US). I'm currently attending high school, and I was wondering whether it would make more sense to spend the year abroad in 10th or 11th grade. My main concern is to have the material for my Abitur so I don't fall behind. I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with this and knows which grade level is more "important."
I would be very happy to receive an answer and would be very grateful! 🙂
Hello
the optimal time for the out-of-earth year during the scul period, the exchange of students depends on several points:
As a result, schools with 13 years of school are usually the 11th. Class optimal for the year abroad, as explained.
Your concern that you are following lessons after your return is unfounded when you provide the core subjects (mathematics, English). For safety, you should discuss this with a school in advance. Especially in the USA, there is often the possibility to participate in these subjects in “in-depth education”.
Procedure The year abroad is in any case a larger project. You should prepare the year systematically. There are

Thank you for the detailed answer!
11. Prepare for the abi before or repeated a lot of the years before. Stressful year but very important
Better go to the 10. To America
Thank you.
Then take the 11th grade. That’s my opinion.
There you are old and mature enough for your exchange and in most cases can the 11. Skip class and start directly with the Abitur in 12th grade.
If you go to the 10th, you’ll have to catch a lot more.
This depends on the specific requirements of the program you are interested in. Generally, it is not necessary to have completed all four school years before you go abroad. In some courses, however, it may be necessary that you still have at least one or two years to maintain your academic status and do not fall behind with the degree programs. Which class level is more important depends heavily on the situation and objectives of each student. If you are looking for a more structured program with specific requirements, it may be necessary to complete at least one or two years of high school to meet these requirements. However, if you are interested in independent studies or voluntary work, it may not be as important whether you have completed all four years of school. The most important factor is their own willingness and motivation for the experience. If you feel ready to face a new academic challenge and immerse yourself in another culture, this is likely enough to make your foreign year successful.
